“Although I had high expectations going into the program, my expectations were exceeded.  I learned a lot about what is working and more importantly what isn’t working.  I really value the diversity in my class because I learned new styles, techniques and methods of efficiently getting things done, tools I use personally and professionally every day.”

Building Community Leadership for Today and the Future

Class of 2009

Launched in 2004, LGMC is addressing one critical need of every “Effective Community” which is to foster and develop community leaders….leadership that is concerned for ALL of the public processes.

LGMC provides the perfect starting point for those people who are truly committed to the principles of “community trusteeship” and who really do want to make a difference in our community. Our Mission is “to promote the personal & professional development of all participants to enhance Community Leadership”.

By recruiting and equipping these types of people from across all segment of our community, we see our Graduates moving into a wide variety of leadership positions on Boards, Commissions, Study Groups and moving to new levels within their sponsoring organizations.

Leadership and Learning are synonymous that is why our Knowledge Objective focuses on education on community issues and processes; and to raise awareness of issues and opportunities. Our Skills Objective is focused on having each participant grow through practical experience in five specific leadership areas.  Our Philosophical Objective centers on the concepts of Community Trusteeship and Stewardship, and that we recognize the value of diversity and cultural competencies.

Are you ready to make the commitment to take this important step to really make a difference in Greater McHenry County?  Whatever your personal passion, our community has a place for your Community Leadership talents.
