Building community leaders for today… and the future!

Launched in 2004, Leadership Greater McHenry County (LGMC) addresses one critical need of every effective community: Foster and develop community leaders as servant leaders who are concerned for all of the public processes.

Our mission is to educate and inspire professionals to engage in community leadership.

LGMC graduates are from all segments of our community and are equipped and recruited to move into a variety of leadership positions on boards, commissions, volunteerism, as well as to advance within their sponsoring organizations.

Effective leaders are devoted to continuous learning. LGMC has several key objectives integrated into the Program Days, Challenge Days, and in ongoing information distributed to alumni. The LGMC model identifies three objectives:
  • Our Knowledge Objective focuses on education about community issues and processes as well as a greater awareness of opportunities.
  • Our Skills Objective encourages each participant to grow through experience in five practices of exemplary leadership.
  • Our Philosophical Objective centers on the concepts of community trusteeship and stewardship. LGMC recognizes the value of diversity and cultural
  • competencies.
Make the commitment to positively impact your future and the future of McHenry County. Explore community leadership through involvement with LGMC. Whatever your personal passion, McHenry County has a place for you. LGMC can facilitate that connection.
