Q. Who can participate?

A. The program is open to all those who aspire to become leaders in the community. The most important criteria is that they are committed to making a difference in the community, and to service using their leadership knowledge and skills. See our list of alumni and sponsors.

Q. Do I have to be a first line supervisor to participate?

A. Community leaders can come from any and all areas within any company or organization. One of the guiding principles in the program is to maintain class diversity. Therefore, there may be participants from all levels...from presidents and CEOs to all other company leaders.

Q. What are Program Days?

A. Program Days are those class days, where the subject/focus, format & location(s) for the meeting have already been determined by the LGMC Curriculum Committee and Staff.  These days normally focus on topics like, HealthCare, Education, Government, Law & Justice etc.

Q. What are Challenge Days?

A. Challenge Days, similar to Program Days are also focused on major community topics and issues. Each class is divided into Challenge Day Teams. Each Team is responsible to select their topic, plan and facilitate their team’s Challenge Day. It is one of the “hands-on”, practical learning experiences to hone effective meeting planning skills, dialogue and facilitation.

Q. What is the attendance policy?

A. Attendance at every session, beginning with the two hour "nuts & bolts" orientation, is important/critical to the participant and to the remainder of the class.

Q. Is there an application deadline?

A. The application deadline is July 15, 2010. Applicants will be contacted the week of June 28 to schedule an interview. Interviews will begin the week of July 19, 2010.

Q. Is financial assistance for tuition available?

A. YES, scholarships are available and will be considered during the application process, based on available funds and need. Please follow the instructions on the application when requesting scholarship assistance.

Q. Is this a Centegra Program?

A. While Centegra Health System was instrumental in getting this program started, LGMC is now a stand alone Non-Profit Organization with full Tax-Exempt Status. The program is supported through its tuitions, application fees and sponsorship support from the community at large.  Please contact the LGMC office for opportunities for program sponsorships and financial support.
