COMMUNITY PROJECTS
Projects are solicited from various Agencies and Organizations throughout the county. These projects are given to the class and they decide which of them will make the list of those to be considered. Each participant is asked to become part of the Project Team. These projects may be completed by the end of the class year (June) or they may go on passed this date to their conclusion. Projects are an important part of the program because they provide “real live examples” requiring leadership.
GRADUATION
The Graduation Ceremony is scheduled for the first Thursday in June. We encourage our class members to invite family, friends and business associates to a beautiful dinner and short ceremony. Pictures from each Program Day, Challenge Day as well as Orientation and Retreat are displayed for graduates to show to everyone. A guest speaker talks about their experience as a leader in the community as well as words from a fellow class member round out the evenings affairs.
It is a time to celebrate each participant for their commitment over the nine months of the program and to encourage them along their Community Leadership journey. Due to the impact on various individual and team aspects of the program we adhere to a very strict attendance policy allowing candidates one emergency absence during the program year.
This year's graduation was held at the Bull Valley Country Club, with our Keynote Speaker being David Hubbard, a member of our Board of Trustees, and an individual who is extremely involved in his community. David is a lifelong resident of Crystal Lake. serves as the President of the Board of School District 47, an Ambassador for the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce, as well as many other associations.
